Write a three-paragraph synopsis of your
research project, describing (1) your research question (topic), (2)
your plan for answering this question (methodology), and (3) the
relevance of this project to the relationship between religion and
ethnicity (significance). Bear in mind the general guidelines
explained on the research
project assignment page.
Give your abstract an original and
fitting title, with capitalization that
follows academic
conventions: in general, capitalize the first word of the title
(and
subtitle, if applicable) as well as all subsequent words except
articles, conjunctions, and prepositions.
"Sign" your abstract by appending
your name and the word count to the end of your
report; for example:
Wanda
Goodgrade
587 words
Use a word processor to draft your abstract, with single-spaced paragraphs and an extra paragraph break between
paragraphs (like the layout of this webpage). Be sure to save a copy for your own records.

Submission
|
Post your research abstract by
following these instructions:
Go to the
homepage for this course's ezboard community.
Click on the "Research Abstracts" forum
under the "Research Projects" category heading.
Click on the "New Topic" button.
Copy-and-paste your title from
your word processor to the "Subject" box. Copy-and-paste your abstract and signature from your
word
processor to the "Comment" box.
Be sure there is a blank line (an extra paragraph break) between paragraphs. If you want
to double-check your spelling,
click on the "Spell Check" button.
Click on the "Add Post" button.
Verify that your research abstract
was posted by clicking on its title (in the "Topic"
column).
You can edit any of your own
posts by clicking on the "Edit Post" (checkmark) button. If you
accidentally post your work in the wrong place, correct this using the
edit function by deleting the contents of the "Comment" box and
entering "ERROR" in the "Subject" box.

Criteria
|
A satisfactory research abstract
meets the following criteria:
Substantive
essay summarizing your topic,
your research methodology, and
the significance of your
project.
Polished prose not
burdened by distracting errors: each word spelled and used correctly;
each sentence built on proper
punctuation and grammar; each paragraph
addressing a coherent and unified point; the entire essay offering an organized
exposition of your subject.
At least 300 words
of text arranged in at least 3
paragraphs, with an original and fitting title that
is properly capitalized and a signature consisting of your name
and the word count.
This assignment is worth 15 points.

Click on the "Notify Gradebook"
icon.
Click on the "Research Abstract"
quiz.
Read the quiz introduction and click on the "Begin quiz" button.
Read and answer the question,
click on the "Save answer"
button, then click on the "Finish"
button.
Verify that your gradebook entry was recorded by clicking on the "View results" button.
